SURROUNDINGS

Ceratec is situated in Ploegsteert (Belgium), in the valley of the river Leie. This region is part of Heuvelland ("land of the hills"), with the Mount Kemmel and the Mount Red as culminating points. The main activities of this region are connected to agriculture. At the border of French Flanders, the company's location is ideal for the international policy at Ceratec. All European capitals are within an easy reach; Ceratec lies only 60 km from the Belgian coast, 240 km4 from Paris, 350 km from Köln and 130 km from our capital, Brussels. The multilinguism is also typical for the region.

Surrounded by tourist attractions like Lille, Tournai, Bruges and Ypres, the surroundings of Ceratec offer a combination of history and culture. The Westhoek was also the tragic setting of the First World War, of which traces are still to be found: numerous monuments and commemoration sites are definitely worth a visit. Every evening at 8 pm, a "Last Post" for the war victims takes place in Ypres.

The surroundings of Ceratec do not only have a historical and cultural value. The natural environment also has its specific character. At a few yards of Ceratec, we can discover about 370 acres of former clay pits that have been transformed into natural reserves. Breathtaking fauna and flora can be admired in those natural reserves in which you can take discovery walks.
